Jack and Ella’s Christmas Gift Guide.

Some of you might not know, I am the proud dog mommy of two.  But these aren’t just any dogs.  These are Jack and Ella, my minature yorkshire terrior’s.  Jack turn’s two on the 28th of December and Ella is just over one.  I never knew it was possible to love a dog as much as I love these two.  This is their second christmas, so they have caught on, a little to what happens.  Last year, we all celebrated Christmas together in my home, but this year the three of us are flying to Durban to spend Christmas with my family at our beach home.  Being the talented pooches that they are, they’ve put together a little gift guide to help all you dog owner’s spoil your fluffy friends.

Restaurants to try.

Being a virgo, I’m very stuck in my way.  When there’s a girls lunch, I always suggest Tashas and order the exact same thing every.single.time. (Yes, how boring) and when Im out for dinner its always the fillet or salmon option (The Boyf could basically order for me without looking at the menu) and I always suggest the same places. Yawn! My favourites being Uitsig, Wijnhuis or Hussars (Being a burbs girl, those are my closest and favourites seeing I love a good fillet) So I am now on the look out to try new places, write them down and tick them off.  So far, these are my ten…

La Mouette

La Boheme

Nelsons Eye

Carne

The Test Kitchen

French Toast

Catharina’s at Steenberg

FORK

Bizerca Bistro

The first of my new restaurants to try was, Myoga at The Vineyard Hotel.  See my post about it here.

If any of you have been to or know of any divine places to go, please let me know…

TOP 10 FAVOURITE BOOK’S

I’m not the biggest book worm around.  I’m more of a series and magazine junkie kinda girl.  But, when weekend’s come round and its rainy, snuggling up with a good book and a cup of tea is the perfect afternoon for me.  So today,  I’ve decided to do a little TOP 10 of my favourite reads..

1. Don’t Let Me Go: Catherine Ryan- So not being the book worm as I mentioned above, this book is a brilliant book for anyone who is more into series and magazines than books.  It’s about young girl living in LA with her mom who is a drug addict. But it’s not the usual type drug book; it’s a book that is written from the point of Grace and her new found friend Billy. The writing styles change to the character and is written in such a way you actually get them to feel what character is feeling.

2. Letter From a Stranger: Barbara Taylor Bradford- Letter from a Stranger will take you on an unforgettable journey from idyllic Connecticut to exotic Istanbul to war-torn Berlin then back to the present day. The letter from a stranger has brought Justine not only to learn the truth about her family but also a chance to heal the wounds of past betrayals, to embrace a new love and new life.

3. The Weird Sisters: Eleanor Brown- This book is all about three sisters: Rosalind (Rose), Bianca (Bean) and Cordelia (Cordy) who having spent a number of years living apart are suddenly through differing circumstances, brought back together in their quiet sleepy academic town with is the illness of their mother.  This is a book with so much to offer and one that you will also get so much out of.

 4. The Angel at No.33: Polly Williams- A book about the death of Sophie Brady who leaves behind her husband Ollie, son Freddie and best friend Jenny.  A comforting book about love, loyalty and humour.  Throughout the book the chracter’s start to become your friends, leaving you not wanting to put the book down.

5. A Private Affair: Lesely Lokko-  The first of Lesely Lokko’s book’s I read was “Rich Girl, Poor Girl” which I so enjoyed than when I came across A Private Affair I must admit only bought it because of the author. In A Private Affair the the novel starts in the present and then moves from each character’s past to show how her decisions and actions have led to the turning point of the novel. There is a very neat symmetry as it turns out all four women are linked by one man that he can bring together these four women from four such different backgrounds.

6. Losing You: Susan Lewis-  Losing You is a novel about  the beautiful eighteen year old Lauren who is the apple of her mother’s eye and Oliver, a deeply troubled young man who makes a terrible decision that tears their worlds apart.

7. Then Came You: Jennifer Weiner- New York Times best selling author Jennifer Weiner writes the story of four very differernt women who all have a problem: Princeton senior Jules Wildgren needs money to help her dad cure his addiction; Pennsylvania housewife Annie Barrow is gasping to stay financially afloat; India Bishop yearns to have a child, an urge that her stepdaughter Bettina can only regard with deeply skepticism until she finds herself in a most unexpected situation.

8. The Captain’s Daughter: Leah Fleming-  What should be an incredible journey for May Smith and her husband ends up being engulfed in tragedy when the Titanic hits an iceberg in April 1912. May was looking to leave her life in the back streets of Bolton behind and start afresh in the United States. The Captain’s Daughter describes stories of lost babies, abusive husbands and friendships forged in the traumatic circumstances.

9. The Best Of Me: Nicholas Sparks- an epic love story from the author of The Last Song and The Notebook comes a story of two high school sweethearts, Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole, who come from two totally different backgrounds.  The story takes place in small town, Oriental, North Carolina.  After high school, their life goes on different paths until twenty-five years later the couple is reunited at the funeral of Tuck, a mutual friend. Being the huge romantic that I am, I couldn’t put the book down until I found out if Amanda and Dawson got back together…

And then a little fun read, if you into reality like me and follow the Kardashian’s..

10. All Things Kardashian: Kris Jenner - need I tell you what its all about?? Kris tell’s all in her brisk read. Starting off by being raised by a single mother, working as an American Airlines Flight attendant where she met her first husband Robert Kardashian to being married to Bruce Jenner. This autobiography extends far more than just being the mom of her three famous daughter’s.
